Product Description
This is the inside story of the government of Irish Taoiseach Albert Reynolds from February 1992 to November 1994 as told by his press agent. It is based on his original diary entries with some elaboration for context afterwords. Most of the book is occupied with two coalition crises with the Progressive Democrats (November 1992) and the Labour Party (November 1994). It also covers the beginning of the Northern Ireland peace process--the negotiation of the Downing Street Declaration with John Major in December 1993 and the efforts to bring about a ceasefire by the IRA in Northern Ireland. This occurred at the end of August 1994.
A good fly-on-the-wall view of history in the making in modern Ireland.
