A paperback reprint - Moytura Press 1990, of Austin Clarke's 1962 autobiography, Twice Round The Black Church.
Austin Clarke (Irish: Aibhistín Ó Cléirigh 1896 - 1974), was born in Manor Street, Stoneybatter, Dublin, and was one of the leading Irish poets of the generation after W. B. Yeats. He also wrote plays, novels and memoirs. Clarke's main contribution to Irish poetry was the rigour with which he used technical means borrowed from classical Irish language poetry when writing in English. His poems featured on the Irish Leaving Certificate syllabus for many years.
This acclaimed autobiography is an account of his youth in Dublin.
